Why This Matters

Slaughter isn’t inevitable
Most horses sent to slaughter are not beyond help. Many are healthy, trainable, and could be rehomed, rescued, or humanely cared for instead.

The public rarely sees this system
What happens after the auction ring is largely invisible to the public. Most Americans are unaware that U.S. horses are still sent abroad to be slaughtered for meat.

Awareness can drive real change
Policy, rescue funding, and accountability depend on public awareness. Documenting these stories helps fuel education, reform efforts, and alternatives to slaughter.
